Piece By
Piece ...3rd February
Having
spent all Friday cutting and moulding my acrylic, I could now start fixing them
together using the glue. Before I could do this, I first had to sort out what
pieces I wanted to place, and where they would go. Most of the planning was
done on Friday and it was just a matter of adding the glue and holding it in
place. After gluing half of the acrylic strands in place I had to reheat a
couple of the others as the bottoms of them weren't completely flat. This took
longer than I wanted as it cooled too quickly and I had to be careful not to
overheat the acrylic. Once all the individual strands of acrylic were glued on
to the wrist band, I then had to heat and mould the hand guard over the fixed
acrylic so that it would fit perfectly.
After
reheating a couple of the acrylic pieces I could then fix the two arm bands
together and sandwich the ribbon in place. This was not only to hold the
jewellery in place when wearing it, but also it hides any messy glue that might
show through. This was another task that took longer than I would of liked. I
had to hold the ribbon, then I took the two pieces and glued both sides of the
acrylic before holding it for a couple of minutes. With everything dried I
could then try the jewellery on to make sure that everything would hold
together when worn.
I could
now start on how I want my jewellery piece displayed. After my power point
presentation, the idea of having a cast of an arm would be good. Seeing the
bracelet on a arm would be more helpful than just floating in the air.
