Capturing Personality in Portraits Photograph

Capturing Personality in Portraits

The task of capturing someone's personality in portraits has moved from the pencil and paint to the camera. This has taken away the interpretation of the artist and has removed the character that they may add. Although the accuracy of what the person looks like is achieved, the challenge of capturing the persons personality is still something that has to be thought about. Anyone can take a photo of their friends and family, but it takes a professional to truly capture the subject in question.

The key of any portrait is to get to know the person, talking to them and making them feel at ease. Finding out the small characteristics that make them an individual only comes through interacting with them. To show their good aspects is all about making the person feel happy. This will bring out their inner self that makes their personality shine. To do this you must spent time with the subject before hand asking questions, learning what they are like as an individual, their hobbies, their likes and dislikes. What personality are they? Shy or bold, relaxed or energetic? It is important to capture their personality fully and to help them feel comfortable.

If you want to be a successful portrait photographer, your job is to show people the way they see themselves and the way they want to be seen and accepted. If you capture the personality of your subjects well, they will be happy, going away with a photo that is a mirror of their personality.
