3D Working Clasp Rebecca Cowley

Working Clasp Rebecca Cowley

Rebecca Cowley, the designer behind the label 'Working Clasp', started producing vibrant modern jewellery after graduating from the Interdisciplinary Textile Design Course at U.W.E. All her jewellery and accessories are designed and produced in Birmingham. They're sold in many places, including the Ikon Gallery. This is where I first saw her colourful designs.

Rebecca uses the latest laser cutting technology to create and etch her jewellery. She also likes to include culturally symbolic silhouettes that are often utilised to make statement pieces. Rebecca often finds inspiration for her work in a combination of drawings and found imagery. She uses these as a starting point to create her own unique designs. As well as using the laser cutter, Rebecca likes to keep her designs fresh by making her jewellery using a variety of styles, and out of various materials such as acrylic, veneers, vinyls and fabrics, to create bespoke pieces.

Working Clasp has now started branching out, making Bridal headdresses and wedding accessories that bring a modern style to a wedding day. Working Clasp not only makes their own designs, they also offer a small scale laser cutting service that will cut and etch your designs for you. The service, called 'Cut The Shit', gives the buyer the ability to create personal, one of a kind jewellery in a range of materials.
